1) Running your code in ring 0.
2) Asking permission for these ports.
1) Is normally hard or even impossible. Under Windows the VxD modules run in
ring 0 (of course the OS does it too). So you must write a VxD.
I don't know much about Linux, but I guess the kernel is in ring 0 so you must
use a module (Linux can load modules to add functionallities).
2) I think both have some way to make it, but don't ask me how.
