I am using DJGPP v2 on a 486SX/33MHz Notebook with 4 MB RAM (no memory manager like HIMEM or EMM386 is used). After a few seconds of execution, both my own compiled programs and the DJGPP programs (compiler, RHIDE-editor during long find and replace actions) are slowing notably down. When I then press a key on the keyboard the programs are running for a few seconds with normal speed before slowing down again. I really would like to know what causes this slow-down of runtime performance and how to avoid it.
