I am trying to optimize some code so I thought I'd use gprof. the problem is that when I run the code the table output by gprof contains an entry _mono_putc. I don't use this function but it is taking up almost 70% of the execution time. I have a dual display (MDA+VGA) and output on the mono screen is loads of meaning less numbers (I assume function addresses) Is there a way to stop this behaviour?? I think it could be taking up so much time because I use a origonal IBM XT MGA adapter which I fear may be very slow to write to??? Help would be much appreciated and also any advice on profiling??
