There's a flag is the flags register that you can set if you have a processor
of one type and not set if it's another.  I remember you can discern anything
from an 8088 up to 386/486 using it.  It's been a while but I'll look up the
code snippet.  They also might be an easier way to do this that I haven't seen
yet.
