I think is best if you compile it because if you don't do it you'll need the
same setup used by the person that compiled the files. For example: If you have
gcc 2.7.2 you could experiment problems with a C++ library (rhgdb) compiled
with gcc 2.8.0, etc.
Only an opinion, I think I have the files at home.
