Subject:	fonts in djgpp (help a beginner please!)

I'm having some trouble starting with Allegro.  I'm new to programming
in with graphics and the allegro documentation is a little too hard for
me to follow (having no experience with this stuff).

Could someone explain to me in plain english how I might go about
loading a font, not necessarily from a DAT file?
