The book "C Interfaces and Implementations" by D.R.Hanson has
source code for two packages implementing extended precision
arithmetic and arbitrary precision arithmetic functions.
The code is available at
http://www.cs.princeton.edu/software/cii/ , but you'll probably
need the book to be able to use it.
