There is some option somewhere which you have to set to 65535 manually. I
don't use Windows 95, but see FAQ section 15.6.

Seriously though, can you give any idea of what the message was like?
Obviously other people have had RHIDE work so they can't reproduce your problem.

No, RHIDE is supposed to work in both DOS and Windows.
