DJGPP v2.02 does not require any specific version of GCC.  You will be
able to use it with 2.7.2.1 and later.  Porting 2.8.0 and making it
available as a compiled binary can be done separately and independently. 

I don't know whether somebody works on porting GCC 2.8.0 now.
