John's affirmation is too strong! Although it is not officially documented,
and the tricks are definitively non portable, _there are_ ways of doing that.
In an earlier post of mine in this list (about one and half to two years...)
I posted a pointer to this matter. It is reachable in the C subdirectory of
msdos SimTel sites.
