There is an Allegro, er, not sure if it's the right word, port of Mesa,
called something like a-mesa. Altho a-mesa is techically for Mesa 2.3 it
easily compiled with Mesa 2.4 (Which is the latest Mesa AFAIK) when I
tried.

I looked for the URL I got it from but I've lost it, sorry.

"unofficial implementation"? I see what you mean, but it may be
misleading to those who aren't familiar with Mesa. Mesa does not claim
compatibility with OpenGL, tho it largely *has* the (unclaimed)
compatibility.

I rather hope Mesa wins, ever since I visited the OpenGL site and saw
prices in the thousands (US$).
