Compiling Allegro 2.2 shouldn't trash your djgpp installation, and you
say you undid the change of swapdisk, so they shouldn't interfere with
the workings of the compiler.  It's hard to troubleshoot without much
information though; I suggest you read all of section 6 of the FAQ,
and if nothing there helps, post a full problem report as detailed in
the last subsection of that section.
