AFAIK the ROM holds only 8x8 bitmaps for the first 128 characters, not
256.
The problem may be that 0xF0000 + 0xFA6E + 8*256 >= 0x100000, which
normally 
would only occur when the A20 gating is disabled (like in real-mode DOS)
