In addition to what's been said, you might consider reading chapter 14
of the DJGPP FAQ list (available as v2/faq210b.zip from the same place
you get DJGPP) which has some info about optimization-related issues.

No, I won't. People who want to avoid junk-mail so badly that they
feel entitled to make lives of those who they ask for help harder,
should at least take the heat of the consequences of their anti-social
behavior. It is OK to hate spam, but please don't punish me for the
spam I didn't send.
