Forgive me if this is a known problem, but I have searched the emacs
faq and the info docs, and I can't find a fix for this problem:
I have been using emacs 19.34 under a dos box in Win95 for a long
time now with no problem. However, when I attempt to run if from
pure dos (or as pure as Win95's dos version can be, accessed by
hitting F8 prior to starting Win95 and selecting 'command line only'),
I cannot get emacs to run at all. I am using an unknown version
of cwsdpmi which I am guessing is at least 6 months old. Specifically,
when I type 'emacs', there is some virtually undectable screen activity,
and then I am returned to the dos prompt in a couple of milliseconds.
At first I thought this might have to do with the long file names
variable in DJGPP.ENV, so I changed it back to LFN=N, but that
did not help.
If anyone has dealt with this problem before, your help would
be greatly appreciated.
