DJGPP is designed for a great number of purposes, one of which is
porting Unix programs, but that is hardly all.  In fact, a tremendous
amount of work has been done to make it as DOS-friendly as possible
within the limitations of 32-bit protected mode.

I suggest that you look in the Frequently Asked Questions list for
details of how DJGPP tries to get along with DOS.  If you still think
there are things that can be improved, then we welcome your efforts. 
The djgpp-workers mailing list exists for the purpose of discussing
exactly this.  You can subscribe to it in the normal way (via
listserv AT delorie DOT com or through the web site); we'd love to hear your
thoughts.
