[posted and emailed to Laszlo.]
I've been trying to compile Laszlo's new perl5004 using a dos box
under windows 95.
When I run configure.bat -d, it fails at:
"Checking whether your C compiler can cast large floats to int32."
The error message is:
"The program encountered an invalid page exception.
Fault location: 00F7:3374
Interrupts in service: 2, 13"
and I have to close it down (the error message says I have to restart
my computer, but that doesn't really seem to be the case).
So then, as advised in message <199709252238 DOT SAA20107 AT delorie DOT com>, I
decided to try getting perl54cf.zip from Laszlo's site, but I couldn't
get through to <http://sun10.vsz.bme.hu/~s0052mol>.
I've been compiling stuff (nothing big) with djgpp in a win95 dos box
for a while now, so I don't think there's anything wrong with my
set-up there. Djgpp.env seems to be in order. Configure.bat seems
happy with everything right up until the error described above.
I sorta' wanted to compile it myself, so if anybody has any ideas, I'd
appreciate hearing them. Meanwhile, I guess I'll go get the
binary.zip and try that.
I have 40megs of ram, if that is relevant to anything.
Thanks.
