I know Brennan has some links to some communcation stuff but I don't
know
if any of that could be used here. I'm actually considering writing
this
this stuff my self because I want to know exactly how my code works, not
hit compile & pray that it does.

Actually, I write all my own mode 13h graphics stuff just because I
prefer that
way. I've never used any of the libs that you mentioned though I've got
GRX 2.1 installed on my 386 B&W laptop & I've got both GRX 2.1 & Allegro
2.x
on P120. My motivation for this project is to get my latop connected to
the
net because I have a working ext. US Robotics Courier 14.4k modem (I've
tested
it w/Qmode 4.6 test drive).
What I want from this project is a GNU/FSF/freeware *DOS*(may somebody
else can
do a UNIX port but I'm only worried about DOS) web browser that isn't
text
only like DOS ports of LYNX. I'd like it also to support 386+ 4MB RAM
machines, any modem, and any VGA card that can do 0x03 text mode, but
also 0x12 640x480x16 graphics mode & 0x13 320x200x256 graphics mode
along w/a few other X-modes & of course SVGA
640x480x8bit-32bit for people w/those systems. Saying this about the
grafix
capabilities, Allegro's use sounds tempting but I'm unsure of its
portability &
it's ability to run on 386(I think it requires a 486 to run make that
comes w/it).
I've never even read the JLIB docs so a link to some info on it would be
cool
because even my P120 only has a 14.4k modem & download speed suck on it.
