There is a True Type library available  at 
  http://www.physiol.med.tu-muenchen.de/~robert/freetype.html

Additionally a Type 1 library is at 
 
http://www.neuroinformatik.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/ini/PEOPLE/rmz/t1lib.html

The GRX font interface may need some work but it should be possible to
integrate these libraries.
