*But* is that the correct definition? Speaking as a relative outsider
to *nix environments, I must say it would *appear* to be the
responsibility of *make* to strip unquoted comments, since '#' is
*also* the *make* comment character.
Hmm-m-m. But then, one could not pass an unquoted '#' to *any*
command. At least a \# would always be required to do so. Is that
the reason it is a misinterpretation?
