well, given the recent debate over the faq, i wnet to
http://www.dejanews.com and search for the occurence of the word faq
between 6/1 and 7/1 in comp.os.msdos.djgpp. the search returned 198
matches. i do have other things to do (believe it or not), so i just
looked at the first 25 matches. out of these 25, 8 were either the
weekly mini-faq posts, or general discussions which i could not classify
as questions or answers. there were 4 questions that included the word
faq in them, and 13 answers. out of the 13, 10 contained _specific_
references to the sections in the faq.

i consider this as a sign that most of the time, people do get specific
pointers (most of which come from eli, obviously.)
