Yes Emtex is a truly awesome achievement. If memory serves, I started
using it about 5/6 years ago. The first versions were a little difficult
to configure, but that is a thing of the past now. It now has an install
program (in beta, I think) that worked flawlessly for me. It is also well
on its way to becomming a compleat word-processing environment not very
different from the way that DJGPP is on its way (some, including me would
hazard that its already there) to be THE programming environment for
MSDOS.
Why then do I celebrate the texk port to the DJGPP platform? For two
reasons:
1) EmTex uses emx to extend MSDOS as opposed to DPMI
2) The sources are public domain
On the down side, the texk port needs some utilities especially for
previewing (I am currently working on one). Users of EmTeX pampered by
the extremely power-packed previewer will find the options of dvivga a
bit limiting (Eli has called it a "quick hack").
I dream of the day when I am able to rename c:\djgpp\bin to c:/bin/
