the same can be said of the standard library functions, too. by getting
a stdio fprintf, are people missing out on the opportunity to learn how
to write functions that take a variable number of arguments? one can
still learn a lot using an api that abstracts from the nitty-gritty,
especially by keeping an open mind about what can be improved upon and
discussing those.
