Maybe because the news reader says the post "failed" when it did not,
and so the user tries again a few minutes later.
This happened to me once, and I posted some messages three to seven
times each. In one case I actually revised the message between tries!
(So people saw the original drafts... how embarrassing!)
Only later did I realize I should try downloading the new messages
before I believe my news reader's "failed" message.
This isn't any help, though, when the news reader keeps TRACK of which
messages have "failed" and won't let you mark it posted without
posting it again...
...I use Forte's Free Agent, but this behavior might also be a
peculiarity of my ISP's news server. I don't know.
