Maybe by the time we get to 64-bit addressing, we'll be well away from
the brain-dead Intel architecture with its segments and non-orthogonal
instruction set. When I first saw this machine in 1981, I knew it would
fail Computer Architecture 101. How it made it this far is frankly an
amazing feat!
