>But now the compiler complains:- > > Error: parse error before character 0335 > I don't know anything at all about ifstream or any C++, but I have had the exact same problem with the OR character after recently installing DJGPP. I had the same error message. I posted a message asking for help on this a few weeks back and obtained the answer from someone else. The problem seemed to be that the wrong character was being used for the OR symbol. ( I think the 0335 (octal) is wrong and should have been something else). I think the problem could have come from the fact that I'm using a UK keyboard with the setting changed in the config.sys file. Are you using a UK keyboard ? My problem was solved by using the key to the left of the number 1 with the Right-Alt key. This was instead of using shift with the key to the left of Z. They seem to use different characters - a bit strange. -- Brian Barlow
