I have been experimenting with derivitives of Allegro example program
ex17.c. I wrote a set of c routines which allow for concatenating wav
files. The logic is a little rough but they worked fine.
Now I am experiencing a different kind of problem, perhaps you can
diagnose the problem. When I try to run the example program ex17.exe
from within a DOS window (Win95, P166, 128MB), I get the following
message:
This applicaton attempted to access a device that is being used by
another application. If you continue running this application it might
cause your system to lock up. Type Y or press ENTER to continue
running the application. Type N to end this application. Press Y for
Yes of N for No:
Have you ever encountered this type of behavior?
I have recently installed CoolEdit to create some sound samples, but
since that time, the example ex17.exe and my derivitives are generating
the above system warning. I don't know if there is any connection
between installing CoolEdit and the system message, but maybe? If I
respond Y to the above warning, the programs run, but I don't get any
sound.
I have tried powering down the computer, then immediately trying
ex17.exe but still get no sound. Aparently the sound card is being
grabbed by some application at startup but I don't have a clue as to
where to start in tracking down the culprit!
Dazed and Confused!?!
