If the meaning was 'the normal integer register size' then your not changing the meaning are you. Its kind of like ints in C. They are not defined to be a particular size, but the fastest for a given processor. CPUs that I know call words 32 bits long include MIPS Sparc Intels i860/i960 HP PA-Risc
