i know this is off-topic but given the frequency with which discussions
regarding pseudo random numbers pop up i thought it might be good to
give a pointer to a reference.
you may know that you can download sections the book 'numerical recipes'
from the web. you can read about the license at
http://cfatab.harvard.edu/nr/nronline.html
for random numbers, read chapter 7.
