It's possible to do that, but generally, if they do, they should page these tables in before switching to that task, unless they really want to do much of the selector reloading themselves in the page fault handler, and have a way to detect that this is necessary. But this is only a problem in task switches (as in multitasking OSes), not normal selector loading.
