I hear around here that they'll be programming for windows95 and UNIX
sorts of systems in the future. But Then why not a DOS version too...
I still think you can get more out of the DOS environment (by virtue
of the depth of knowledge on how to work around it, and to get right
at the core of processor and memory directly without invasionary OS
overhead/overseeing) than presently can be gotten from any of the Big
GUI systems. Maybe not for long, however.
I'll say it again- although never intended, DOS is now a game
platform, and I think it will live for some time in that capacity.
BTW, I can't see why Id would go back to Watcom for whatever auxillary
needs they have for a compiler- DJGPP obviously does good enough (!),
and you can have all the source code, and no complications like with
DOS4G, etc. I'd think they'll use their own compilers before they go
back to Watcom.
