Yeah. It's controlled, and that's what we don't want, right ?
But if there is an - lets say - win gcc sometime, we can make our own
win multimedia standard : AllegroX (or whatever you want to call it)
We have this already (and I consider Allegro being a standard for graphics and sound for djgpp programmers) for Dos. And *we* can get it for Win, too, if we want.
The whole djgpp project/community shows that *we* can do anything we want to, without being controlled or have to pay lots of money. That makes the whole thing so great. In fact, I love DJGPP an all
its tools ! I'm sure, this won't stop...
I know this doesn't relay to the original post, but I think it's a nice thought.
BTW : When someone is doing a commercial product(e.g. Westwood with C&C2)
that's using DirectX, do they have to pay M$ to get programming info or
to get the rights to use DX ? Just wondering...
