It is. What happens if you press Ctrl-C when the program waits for
input? Do you see ^C on the screen? If so, just press Ctrl-Z, or
[Enter], and the program should be aborted. In fact, even plain
Ctrl-Z (without Ctrl-C) should terminate the program (it serves as the
End-of-file marker).

If the version of `grep' that you have cannot be terminated by Ctrl-C
and/or Ctrl-Z, download the latest grep20b.zip from the DJGPP
archives. An early port of `grep' had this problem, but it was
corrected in the port of `grep' which comes with DJGPP v2.01 (dated
19-Oct-96 or thereabouts).
