I fixed it. Thanks.

What I did was edit the file 'dir' and insert the two lines
	"Elisp: (elisp)"
	"      Elisp!"
I had tried this before I posted the question, but it didn't work. My
_emacs file had changed the TAB key to do self-insert; I think info
didn't like that.

It works fine and I'm now digesting Lisp.
