This minor problem is not related to the keyboard, but to the character
generator of your video. It is still the same character "|", so wherever
you need it you can use "|" with a break halfway down.

Maybe try another video mode if you don't like this appearance?

Strange that this only occured in RHIDE 1.2. It should have been the
same in RHIDE 1.1d
