If you don't mind waiting a (hopefully short) while, Shawn Hargreaves (the
author) promises Allegro will support Hi and true colour in the next
version. How long you will have to wait however is another thing. You could
go to his homepage at
http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/
. . . and see what you can find / e-mail him (he's very helpful in my
experience). If you're already used to Allegro, downloading and learning a
different library now might just slow you down. Just a thought.
