Congratulations Sly! You won the $24,000 question of the week! Yes,
my "inconsistencies" that I encountered were, in fact, due to the fact that I
have never used a bland old vanilla "C" compiler, and was just used to the C++
compilers. Thus I was trying to declare variables everywhere, and I couldn't
understand why. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle (a quote from GI
Joe). Thanks to all who didn't belittle me for being such a moron!
