I exchanged quite a few emails with one of their technical support
people a year or so ago, and gave up in disgust after they refused my
offer to port the SDK for them (I said I'd do the port, and sign
whatever NDA's they wanted, if only I could get a usable lib out of it.
They weren't the least bit interested, and my offer isn't still open
because I don't have so much free time these days :-)
My conclusion: buy a GUS or a SoundScape!

The trouble with that would be how to lock the code, which is pretty
important as it all runs in an interrupt context. Unless they are
willing to add lock routines to their library (which seems unlikely), we
really would need access to the sources...
