I am having a similar problem.

In a dos box, I get about 2Mb physical RAM (!) and quite a lot of swap
(not sure how much). I want more physical RAM, but can't get it when in
a dos box.
If I run is ms-dos mode with cwsdpmi.exe, then I have access to all of
my computers physical RAM, and plenty of swap.

But I want to be able to access at least 6-8Mb of my computers 16Mb of
physical RAM in a dos box. Any Ideas on how I can do this?

Can you disable virtual memory in any way, so the program will exit If
not enough physical RAM is available??
