The cyrix 686 is generally supposed to be backward compatible with
all intel processers.  I suspect that Win 95 is messing you up here.
(this suspicion may be unfounded, but I tend to be a bit window-phobic).
I have a hard time believing that cyrix would try to peddle something
that
can't run code which would work on a 386.
