I have been using Rhide to compile (with -pg of course) 
and the go to Dos to run and then do the 'gprof filename'
and I have no problems at all.  everything works as it should.

Be aware however that if you use a certian video driver i.e 
linearframebuffer stuff your timings won't be the same in another
driver e.g. a banked mode. This mght skew your results for other 
machines.
