Ok. Eli's idea solved my problem. First I undef the TERM variable using dos set TERM= and emacs run running bash I wrote a file .bashrc in my home directory with the line unset TERM an also emacs run fine Thank you very much for your help and specially for Eli Zaretskii who gave me the answer :-) avelino
