I am trying to run djgpp under Linux / dosemu.
Compiling seems to work fine, however, when I start bash, I get the bash
prompt and the window freezes.

Running go32-v2 gives:

DPMI memory available: 7987 Kb
DPMI swap space available: 0 Kb

Why is swap space 0? I this and the bash problem related?
