I want to upgrade from DJGPP 1.12m3 to DJGPP 2.01 but, before I
embark on downloading several megabytes, I should like to make sure
that I'll be able to run the new release. I use the Novell Dos 7 and
the FAQ has ominous warnings about bugs in the Novell DPMI handler.
It suggests disabling it and installing CWSDPMI instead: does this
actually work? (I have never enabled the DPMI services, since I have
no program requiring them.)
Actually CWSDPMI is more reliable and provides a more compete implementation of
the DPMI 0.90 standard, including some DPMI 1.0 features, than all but one
commercial DPMI server. Using CWSDPMI is a good thing to do.
I remember reading here, some months ago, a message mentioning a
German site holding patches for DOS 7. Since Novell has dropped DOS 7,
I should be most grateful for pointers to any source of information
or support for this orphan OS, which I find quite superior to any
Microsoft version.
I believe that Caldera purchased the source rights to Novell DOS which was DR
DOS and is making it the basis for their OpenDOS project. Check out the
Caldera home page:
