Not sure why you think that we newies need to worry our little heads 
about differences between compliers.  I'm following a book going over 
c++ using Microsoft and Borland.  It wastes a lot of paper telling me 
how to compile in M'soft then again in B'land.  Then there is a lot of 
stuff about if M'soft do this else etc ... in the code.

I'm using rhide and I junk all the if else etc and so far the only 
difficulties I've had are linking to some special Libs (for sound 
effects) included on the disk.  If I stick to c++ basics I'm fine with 
djgpp.  I just need a bit more time to get into it.

I guess that the mext big hurdle is finding a subistute for the M'soft 
MFC or B'land OWL.  Is there an equivolent in dj for that.  In place 
of paying $20 for a $40 tutorial I should have shopped the net and 
pulled one off.
