  I searched the mailing list archives and I found the original question 
but not the answer.  I am trying to use a C++ fstream as scratch file.  I 
want to write the whole file, rewind, and read the whole file, repeating 
several times.  I haven't found the magic combination of openmode that 
allows this.  Could the person who posted the answer re-post it.
