Do you know enough TeX to look at the TeX expansion and understand what it
doesn't like there?  (I don't.)  If you cannot do that, try substituting
`_' with `@_'.  Another possibility would be to try to run Texinfo and TeX
on a Unix box (maybe there's a bug in the ported version only).  Failing
all that, I'd suggest to post to the appropriate Usenet group (either
bug.gnu.utils or something TeX-related), or write to the author of
Texinfo, Brian J. Fox <bfox AT wizard DOT datawave DOT net> (hope he doesn't mind you
writing to him directly).
