Unless you are calling one of the special time-and-date-handling functions
that converts between different time zones, the whole space-wasting caboodle
can be safely blown into \dev\null

  Then why can't all that zone info go in one big compact binary file? Lots of
little files are very space-wasteful, as every one needs a cluster to itself.
