of course, if you are using COMMAND.COM you can't use slash and have to use 
the DOS dir separator \ (ie: cd \bin)

I had the same problem You have:

I copied file docs\djgpp\dir into directory docs\

I need to be within directory docs\ to make info.exe find 'dir' but it is
more than nothing :-)
