Announcing the release of JLib beta version 1.0
===============================================
I have uploaded to x2ftp.oulu.fi the file jlib_1-0.zip, which is the
beta version 1.0 of the JLib library. I expect it to be moved to the
pub/msdos/programming/djgpp2 directory, where it will replace jlib_0-9.zip,
which was an earlier beta version.
What is Jlib?
=============
One Line Description:
Portable Graphics/Gaming Library - DOS/Linux/X Windows.
Many Line Description:
Jlib is a gaming/graphics library for DOS (w/ djgpp),Linux and X windows.
It provides simple graphics primitives, offscreen buffers and sprite
functions, and includes documentation, demos and miscellanious stuff.
Currently 320x200,640x480 and 800x600 256 color targets are provided for
dos and linux. These include input handling routines. 320x200 X support is
included and is in development. Other targets will be added as the existing
ones firm up.
Jlib comes as full "C" source code in a ready to build fashion (with
makefiles) to keep the archive size down. Installation instructions are
included for all users. It compiles under both the v1.13m4 and
beta v2 versions of djgpp and should work fine with C++, Windows, OS/2 etc.
Jlib is 100% free, therefore it comes with absolutely no warantee. You
are free to use JLib code in any product subject to the terms described
in the included file "readme.jon" (!=GPL). Jlib is copyright(c) 1995
Jonathan Griffiths.
This beta version has full functionality in several targets and will
become the first non-beta release after a short period of bug hunting.
Many new features have been added from the previous release. Highlights
include:
* Testing: Install has been tested for each target.
* New targets.
* New JLib image file format.
* New primitives: polygons,filled and clipped circles,simple dialogues.
* Keyboard support.
* Endian independance.
* Bug fixes/enhancements/new demos.
